Meeting at Mulligan's (101 Causeway) 5:00 7/11

Any committee members who will be in town for the NLRB demo are invited to join Steve, Susan and myself at Mulligan's to discuss next steps!

How long should the conference be?

What are people thinking out there? A one day conference? Two? Three?

The more days, the more expensive and the more work. Should we keep our goals modest and begin with a one day conference?

UMass Boston Labor Research Center looking for a proposal from us

I e-mailed Susan Moir from UMass Boston a couple days back. Here's some relevant snippets of her response:

About the conference, I am very interested in hosting it but I'm looking
for three things:

* A planning committee that is not us here at the LRC. We are
very short on resources and cannot pull off a conference but can support
and host one.

* A timeline

* A budget

I need to make a decision about our involvement by early July so I will
need all of the above before then. I have cc'd my peeps who are also
interested in this project as well as some of my staff who will b
surprised to find out that I am even considering a conference next year!

I think that it is a very exciting idea for the LRC to host a conference
on labor and technology. It fits very well with our research agenda on
the Future of Work. Let's see if a proposal can come together.

wiki/book pages for budget/program?

I think it might be helpful to our discussions to set up at least a couple of collaborative documents, on the budget and the program.

Do others agree? And would it be better to use a Wiki or as a Drupal book page?

Workshop for those interested in collaborative projects

I propose having a workshop for discussing potential collaborative projects such as a labor wiki, a creative commons repository of photos, writing, etc. that could then be shared by anyone.

One of the outcomes of the workshop would be to settle on a project and lay the foundation for beginning work on it.
