Massachusetts Labor Leaders Get Positive Press

Too often, labor leaders only get trotted out for reaction quotes to a strike or whatever the labor controversy of the week is. So this article struck me as a refreshing change with labor leaders portrayed as taking the lead on a community project that will give residents in northeast Massachusetts some hope. Unions are all about solving economic problems in society, both on the micro and macro economic levels, and it's great to see an article that actually paints this part of the union picture.

I have to wonder how this story got to see the light of day. Was it the United Way's involvement? Is it part of a concerted media strategy or is it something the journalist dug up on their own? I'll see if I can get a hold of Jeff Crosby and determine how it came about. I'll be sure to post what I find here.
